Different applications require different PHP versions. DirectAdmin lets you choose the version per domain.
Change PHP version
- Go to Extra Features → Select PHP Version (or Account Manager → PHP Settings).
- Select the domain.
- Pick the PHP version — for example 8.2 or 8.3 for modern WordPress and Laravel.
- Enable required extensions for your application.
- Save and test your site.
Compatibility tips
- Check your CMS or framework documentation for supported versions.
- Test on staging before upgrading production sites.
- Older PHP versions may be available but lack security updates — upgrade legacy apps when possible.
