FTP accounts let you upload and manage website files using an FTP client such as FileZilla or WinSCP.
Create an FTP account
- Go to Account Manager → FTP Management.
- Click Create FTP Account.
- Enter a username, password, and select the domain.
- Set the directory the account can access — use the domain root or a subfolder for limited access.
- Save the account.
Connect with an FTP client
- Host: your domain name or server IP
- Port: 21 (or 22 for SFTP if enabled on your plan)
- Username: the full FTP username shown in DirectAdmin
- Password: the password you set
For better security, prefer SFTP or use the built-in File Manager when possible. Delete unused FTP accounts to reduce attack surface.
