Hotlink protection stops external sites from linking directly to your images and files, which can consume your bandwidth without benefiting your site.
Enable hotlink protection
- Go to Account Manager → Hotlink Protection.
- Select the domain to protect.
- Enable hotlink protection.
- Add allowed domains that may reference your files (include your own domain and any CDN domains).
- Specify file extensions to protect (commonly
jpg,png,gif,pdf). - Save your settings.
Redirect behaviour
You can configure hotlinked requests to show a replacement image or return a forbidden error. Allow your own domain and subdomains so internal pages continue to display images correctly.
