To set up your emails through Outlook you would need to install the Outlook app from your preferred app store. If you are using a laptop or PC then you would require a Microsoft account to install this as it comes as part of the Office Package.
- If this is a new install of Outlook click on Add Account. If you already have an account click on File and then Settings or if you are using a mobile device tap on the Cog and then Add account (sometimes this may be Accounts and then add Account for mobile devices)
- Depending on the version you have you either type in your email address OR choose the type of email account you have.
- If you are using are connecting an email account through DanumHost then you would choose IMAP which is normally at the bottom of the list.
- If you are then asked for your password type this in and you are ready to go, If this asks for the mail provider this means Outlook needs a little more information to get you connected.
- If you are using are connecting an email account through DanumHost then you would choose IMAP which is normally at the bottom of the list.
- Once you have chosen IMAP this will then ask for your mail providers email server settings. For DanumHost hosted email accounts you can provide this information. If you are using iOS then choose use advanced Settings.
- Description = This can be anything you want so you know what the account is. You can also leave this blank.
- Username = This is your email address
- Password = This is your password
- Incoming Server/Hostname = mail.YOURDOMAIN.COM (if you are not sure on this one then you can use mail.danumhost.co.uk)
- Incoming/Outgoing Security = SSL
- Incoming Port = 993
- Outgoing Port = 465
- Click Sign In.
This is normally instant although can sometimes take around 5-10 seconds especially if this is a new domain name.
If you try to login and your password is incorrect and you have done this several times within the last few minutes then our servers may put a temporary block on your IP address as you will be tagged as trying to brute force your email account. This is done for your online safety.
